Sidling across the astral terraforma, there’s some London hippies skating on an electric breeze, casting luminescence onto the Celestia.
Baby Vanga are charting constellations and puncturing time. As they spellbind beat and melody into stratospheric reaches, they ask nobly at our behest “what were we doing there, when we could have just been here?!” ‘Cosmic Shifter’ is their latest steeze; the neatest proclamation yet of their classically psychedelic mysteries.
Released via Portsmouth label Strong Island Recordings (Los Bitchos, Krush Puppies, Rosie Alena), this latest boon from the London sextet provides scrumptious, neo-psych. It’s immaculately textured from planet-to-planet and moon-to-moon. From the Stereolab’y brain-zap synthesiser, to the dislocating 5/4 rhythmic stumble, to a guitar twiddling breakdown that’s so curious and bustling that it seems to have been plucked, ripe and juicy, from a King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard orchestration.
We can only pray that it’s glory from here. That the Baby Vanga star will bulge and explode, scattering us all in its overflow of riches.
