bdrmm have today released their weightless and subdued single, ‘Be Careful’, along with the announcement of their second album, ‘I Don’t Know’, due June 30th via Rock Action.
bdrmm’s new single arrives hand in hand with the news of their sophomore album, ‘I Don’t Know’, due this summer. Recorded with Alex Greaves at The Nave Studios in Leeds, bdrmm’s Ryan Smith shared that the track “came about so naturally” and was influenced by the importance of taking care of yourself amidst temptations of overindulgence – and recognising when that care is necessary.
With allusions to the likes of Portishead and Radiohead’s ‘Nude’ – particularly for the bassline – ‘Be Careful’ is instantly alleviating. Lyrically, the release is cautionary without the factor of threat, and although laconic, it’s able to convey the intricacies of a complex rumination. Characteristic of bdrmm and their previous releases, the different elements of ‘Be Careful’ tread softly and steadily before gathering in the widening of the track’s close. Reverbed and intimate, ‘Be Careful’ manages to explore a solemn and reflective sincerity without a bleak overshadow, instead, it wanders the safety of hindsight.
