Listen: Cardiff’s Cyn Cwsg Share New Single ‘Mobius’

The latest in a slew of talent to come out of Wales, Cardiff’s Cyn Cwsg take off the stabilisers and go full stadium with new single ‘Mobius’.

Alongside fellow Welsh exports CVC, Melin Melyn, Casual Smart and The Family Battenberg, the quartet have been making a name for themselves with an infectious blend of in-your-face indie rock tinged with psychedelia. Having already made an impression at The Great Escape festival and on BBC radio – with an appearance at Green Man just around the corner – the Cardiff group have come out all guns blazing with ‘Mobius’, a track tailor made for obscenely large outdoor stages.

It takes a fair amount of gusto to make a song about a non-orientable shape sound this catchy. Filled with earworm hooks, dramatic pauses galore, and built on a bed of stadium sized guitars, ‘Mobius’ manages to be gung-ho without falling into self-indulgence. It wears its 90’s indie influences proudly on its sleeve, delivered with just the right amount of warmth and topped with an infectious energy that is hard to ignore. Throw in a chorus so big it wouldn’t sound out of place in a Foo Fighters encore, and you’ve got a glorious summer anthem that makes you feel three feet taller with every listen.

This is a band that understands the merit of getting to the point in as loud and fun a way as they can, and it’s near impossible not to want to jump along for the ride.
