Listen: Cardiff’s Why Horses? Share New Single ‘I’ve Got A Fever’ and Announce Debut EP

Cardiff’s Why Horses? share ‘I’ve Got A Fever’ and announce debut EP ‘Yeah, Hi?’

A clacking, bass-thudding skulk-athon of Cramps-like psychobilly mixed in with the skeletal post-disco of mutant pioneers like Delta 5 –  Why Horses?’ new single ‘I’ve Got A Fever’ – conjures the kind of phantasmal supernaturalism that could well be lurking right at the bottom of your leafy suburban street. A song, so they say, literally about a particularly bad bout of illness, becomes a kind of ecstatic curse against something shady, rancorous and inconclusive; a lashing out against something strangely sinister but only God knows what.

Emerging from Cardiff, and releasing via newly founded label BWGiBWGAN records (pronounced ‘Boogie-boogan’, its Welsh translation – ‘ghost disco’ – could aptly describe Why Horses? here), their emergence shows perhaps another sign of significant movements in the south of Wales. We’ve already seen, in the past few months, teenagers like MORN and Casual Smart, similarly rapt by the myth of The Brixton Windmill, channeling its talismans to forge their own distinct paths.

There’s also a debut EP coming from Why Horses? too. ‘Yeah, Hi?’, arrives on 9th October.
