Listen: Chalk Release New Single ‘Claw’ and Announce New EP ‘Conditions II’ via Nice Swan

Belfast trio Chalk open up on stained views of love on their latest single ‘Claw’, mourning past relationships in typical grin-and-bear-it fashion with a filthy punk twist.

New EP, ‘Conditions II’,  is set for release 1st March via Nice Swan Records, and we can expect more gritty dance beats that contest the pacing guitars of Dublin’s live scene. Just like in this latest single, where ferocity meets groove, the Chalk-defined genre sweats out toxic themes and becomes too infectious to mute.

Lyrically, ‘Claw’ takes us on another self-discovert journey as we hear the protagonist in turmoil trying to figure out what’s next, navigating through the twists and turns at every corner. In doing so, it creates an indefinite ending that leaves us biting our nails, turning the EP into a binge-worthy BBC drama that only airs once per week.

Speaking on the track, “Claw is about falling in love inside a nightmare. There’s a mixture of loss and relief that we wanted to capture. Subconscious feelings are at the crux of most of our tracks – something that we started on Conditions EP. We still feel like we’re in that universe of figuring ourselves out as people and using our sonic palette to make sense of it. There’s still a few feelings we want to explore and staying in the world of Conditions is something we’ve grown to enjoy – we don’t want to leave just yet”.
