The London four-piece have released ‘Doomcrash’—the penultimate epic from their debut album ‘Return’, which will be released on the 28th of January via untitled (recs).
Arriving as a sonic rigmarole, sitting just under nine minutes in length and harnessing that signature slow burn that assisted them in building their loyal following, ‘Doomcrash’ is the third single we have from Deathcrash’s upcoming debut album ‘Return’.
Deathcrash’s music has a tendency of leaning into a slow-release. Giving you new components piece-by-piece whilst you were completely oblivious to its transformation, the first half of this single undoubtedly abides by convention. ‘Doomcrash’ builds at the same pace as tracks such as Red House Painters’ ‘Katy Song’, but manages to surpass it in its climax as it dissolves into a more distorted and gritty wall of sound that is closer to their driving roots.
‘Return’ was recorded with and produced by Deathcrash’s close friend Ric James, who has worked with them on many of their previous projects. The process for the album allowed the band to get back in touch with a “newer, more open feeling; sharing words, riffs and ideas fully collaboratively for the first time”. From what we have heard so far, this environment has resulted in a project that emits the feeling of freedom in creativity, and allows us to find something hopeful born out of the chaos that has been the last two years.
