Listen: Dublin’s Eppie Share New Single ‘Listening to Charm’

Anyone already missing the endless days of summer? Or pining ahead for the sweet spells of spring? You could do a lot worse than press play on the new single from Dublin three-piece Eppie. Coming from a forthcoming collection fittingly dubbed ‘Songs of Summer’, ‘Listening to Charm’ is a glistening and gorgeous slice of coming-of-age jangle-pop.

A reflection on the casual yet impossibly formative memories shared between lead vocalist Palomi and her sister, and band namesake, Eppie, the track could very well soundtrack a Submarine-style super 8 montage of joyously carefree adolescence. Think a mood-board of, say, the click of a film camera, a cigarette on a curbside, a belly-aching laugh while waiting for the bus, or, as the title alludes, spinning the latest Clairo album…

Lifting the tingling 80s comforts of the Dunedin Sound or C86, but adding a kind of melodic clarity befitting an @ record, Eppie’s sound is endearing, daisy-fresh and effortlessly romantic. Ireland, and the city of Dublin specifically, is seemingly in the midst of a golden age for indie/alternative bands, and Eppie are here providing yet another jewel.
