‘Voyager’ is the latest transcendent release from Ewan Samms, following a string of EP’s they’ve released over the past few years. The opening instrumentals feel melancholy and nostalgic, played with a sense of reflection – after a steady beat counts them in, Samms’ vocals create a dreamy haze that drifts into the track with ease.
With complete control of writing and production, Samms has mastered the alternative folk-jazz genres as ‘Voyager’ showcases his skill in developing pensive lyrics with an immersive soundtrack. The single is the first release of what has been described as their ‘most ambitious work to date’, an upcoming EP of the same name that is set to explore themes of desire and belonging.
Ewan’s talent is crystal clear, and the earnestness found in the title track of ‘Voyager’ sets the complete release of the EP to be a highly anticipated one.
