Listen: First Glasgow boys Rascalton release ‘Alone’

After releasing their debut track ‘This Is It’ back in April of this year Rascalton, a dark and brooding garage punk band from Glasgow, give us another taste of their immense talents. The 4 piece have built a core fan base in their native Scotland with sold out headline shows at Glasgow’s famous King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut and Edinburgh’s Sneaky Pete’s as well as heading out on tour in September and October.

New track ‘Alone’ is taken from the bands Lust // Alone AA side 7” which is being released via Glasgow indie label Public, with Baby Strange’s Johnny Madden and 7 West Studios Chris Marshall behind the production desk, we get a look into the raw emotion and power that Rascalton have at their disposal.

The screeching guitar sizzling under the belly of the chorus accompanies a powerful and raw voice that makes you understand the pain of loneliness and longing. The lyrics forge the story of heartbreak as frontman Jack Wyles sings “Spend our nights in the lost and found/Only place she felt at home/Thinks that all these random objects/Understand her being alone”, its a heartfelt message masquerading as a pumped up garage rock song.

The vocal’s are the key to Rascalton, providing a cocksure tone with every note while bringing a sense of desperation and sorrow that the lyrics are trying to portray. An encompassing melody and an infatuating rhythm section ‘Alone’ provides us with a glimpse into the Rascalton future.

With only one single under their belts the confidence oozing out of their latest effort would make you think they were seasoned veterans, accompany that with frantic and chaotic live shows then Scotland have themselves a new jewel to add to the crown.
