There’s something deliciously deranged about the new single from Glasgow newcomers DOSS.
A grisly ‘eat the rich’ diatribe against big wigs, big cheeses, big bosses the world over – self-described as “American Psycho meets Bad Lieutenant’, no less – grotesque images of “‘Big mounds of cocaine / and then a marathon wank “ slice through this unnerving maelstrom of rickety DIY funk, saxophone solos, and curdling, blood-thirsty eruptions of hardcore screamo.
Mingling a kind of horror-movie Getdown Services with the gallant irreverence of Warmduscher, clotted together in a thick Glaswegian vocal, ‘BIGFELLAFUNK’ also marks the announcement of self-titled debut EP due 29th May via Alcopop! Records.
Speaking about the track, the duo say: “Deranged funk. Slick, polished, and smooth on the surface, but cracking underneath. A portrait of yuppi es, lawmakers, and deal- makers who appear in control while quietly imploding. The higher up the food chain, the darker the skeletons.“
