London’s black midi are back and new single ‘John L’ is the first to come from new album ‘Cavalcade’ which is due out on May 28th via Rough Trade Records.
The driving chaos of new single ‘John L’ gives the occasional nod to debut ‘Schlagenheim’ as guitars and keys clash, but it’s the addition of Kaidi Akinnibi on Saxophone which gives this track balance, adding conviction and the listener a peek into the intentions of ‘Cavalcade’. The video stirs the weird pot further, with vocalist, Geordie Greep’s vocals serving as a muttered commentary upon a choreographed changing of the cult guard. And the new leader? Yes, a dancing baby.
‘John L’ is our now alongside crooning B Side ‘Despair’ which features Jerskin Fendrix on violin. black midi will play Alexandra Palace Theatre on November 11th with tickets available via a limited pre sale on March 31st and general sale on April 1st. Pre order ‘Cavalcade’ here.
