Our favourite London Festival, Wide Awake, has announced its next wave of artists to play at Brockwell Park in May.
Joining the celebration of leftfield indie, post-punk, electronica, techno and everything in-between will be DIY cult legend, Alex G, Swedish punk heroes, Viagra Boys and long time So Young favourites, Black Country, New Road. That’s not all – Techno duo Two Shell will be making an exclusive London festival appearance, Aussie Punks CLAMM will be in town, and joined compatriots, Nice Biscuit.
Full list of new additions:
Alex G, Black Country, New Road, CIVIC, CLAMM, JJUUJJUU, Los Bitchos, Nice Biscuit, Nuha Ruby Ra, O., Tirzah, Two Shell, Viagra Boys, Warmduscher, Wasted Youth.
Dissatisfied with having the most exciting line up in the capital, Wide Awake continues to support and combat social issues that challenge the day to day lives of the wider community it pulls together. Wide Awake has been supporting Keychange – the gender equal bill – which has been a part of their core booking process since the first edition of the festival, a commitment WA take very seriously.
Championing what is important and highlighting social issues have always been an imperative part of the Wide Awake philosophy. Political and social activists Hate Zine will have a physical presence this year at the festival with a focus on POC, LGBTQ+, political and environmental publications alongside a programme of workshops and panel discussions on a range of topics from renters unions, climate activism, immigration and support for women in music.
