Listen: Launder Release New Single ‘Intake’

In the lead up to their debut album, ‘Happening’, Launder have released their newest single ‘Intake’ via Ghostly.

After working with co-producer, mixer and engineer Sonny DiPerri (my bloody valentine and Nine Inch Nails) at New Monkey Studio (previously owned by Elliot Smith), Launder’s new single is an uplifting and fuzzy venture.

Launder’s John Cudlip explains that the dreamy single “carries the rhythm of someone and something new” and that with the faster tempo and ascending chords it’s a “joy for [him] and was a lot of fun to rehearse and record”. This joyful quality is supported by the Cupid De Locke-esque vocal delivery and elements of shoegaze.

Littered with what Cudlip calls “single note guitar interplay”, the multi-layered single always has a hidden riff to unpick as every component intriguingly fuses into one drowsy, droning hum. The warmth and comfort this track exudes makes it feel like a summery coming of age song that reflects, what appears to be, a creative process that was centred around self-development.

The New issue of So Young is out now Ft. Just Mustard, Viagra Boys, Horsegirl, Fat Dog, Opus Kink and more. Grab your print copy here or read the digital edition below.
