Bathing Suits share their new surging, electronic track ‘Empathy’ – sitting at a comfortable seven minutes that passes by in an instant. Drum machine and synth pulse together whilst jarring guitar lines join the blend. A new take on techno and guitar, with the thesis of “always dancey. Always loud. Always sexy”.
The essence of Bathing Suits is presented clearly in the new track – finding their beginnings at DIY basement shows in Leeds – ‘Empathy’ is intense, disjointed, withholding catharsis until the last minute as vocalist Freyja Blevins desperately repeats the reminder to “lack empathy”.
On the background of the track, Blevins shared “it’s about feeling like there’s no empathy left for anyone – like we’ve run out of it or something. The song feels cold, angry, suffocating and tense. But it was really fun writing and working on it together”.
