‘I Want To Be You’ and its video are out now as Lime Garden gear up for the release of their highly anticipated debut album, ‘One More Thing’, out on February 16th.
Lime Garden have returned with ‘I Want To Be You’, this being the third taster from their fast approaching debut album, ‘One More Thing’. With recent news of their biggest UK headline tour to date and the newly announced EU tour, with this album, Lime Garden are truly stepping into their own and briskly surpassing previous milestones.
Conceptually, Lime Garden’s Chloe Howard explained ‘I Want To Be You’ as “an attempt to emulate the feeling of true obsession through sound”, something achieved as the lyrics become progressively more fixated on the mantra “I want to be you so bad”. Despite relatively peppy instrumentation, the single is bittersweet, mixing aching yet deeply relatable lyricism with quick drums and synth whirring, as lead guitar follows the vocals’ guidance.
Accompanied by a Sal Redpath directed music video, ‘I Want To Be You’ sees Lime Garden prove once again that they can capture the complicated feelings that arise in adolescence. Part of their charm lies in their ability to articulate the intricacies of feelings that are undeniably universal, but typically, go undiscussed or unnoticed. Considering the quartet have been making music together since they were 16, it goes without saying that the environment created by four people knowing each other and creating together across their formative years is sure to build a steady foundation, one primed for a record that is candid and honest, but ultimately, enjoyable and lovable.
