Having found their footing in the indie-pop guises of former tracks, Brighton’s Lime Garden return sky-high on the sugar rush of latest single ‘Marbles’. Coated in the oh so sweet delights of disco-led production, the track is best served on an LED dance floor after one too many tubes of 00’s blue smarties.
A head-spin of ping-ponging synths and punchy percussion, the bop is a muso’s alternative to a game of pinball. Dazzling on a tidal wave of glitching grooves, the song sends a rejuvenated nod to 90’s electronic music. Juxtaposed with the nonchalant vocals of lead singer Chloe Howard, the four-piece cook up a fun-loving frenzy with effortless ease. If your head is in the clouds and you’re quite happy staying there, then ‘Marbles’ is the easy-breezy track for you.
Commenting on the single Howard explains: “‘Marbles’ is about the realisation that you’re not sharing the same lifestyle as those around you. It’s about overthinking that comparison to the point where you question your own sanity or direction in life. It tells the story of an individual on a journey of self-discovery that the listener is witnessing from afar but with access to their internal monologue.”
The kick-start to a jam-packed year ahead, Lime Garden are all set to brighten up the underground proceedings of 2022.
