Fontaines D.C. have signed to Partisan Records, the Brooklyn label responsible for the rapid rise of Bristol’s, IDLES as well as worldwide favourites Dilly Dally, Cigarettes After Sex, Tender and more. Signing is a big deal for the band and it was important that they announced it with a thud, and that thud is new single ‘Too Real’. A mind bender of a punk song and a live favourite which in the small sweaty venues they’ve been headlining, has stunk of the intimidating intensity that they’re likely to be heralded for. Frontman, Grian Chatten snarls at every moment, be it the brags of ‘making a lot of money’ or the moments he tests you with cries of ‘Is it too real for ya?’. The video for the track gives you an insight into the band with pub pool tables and pints of Guinness an ever-present, unsurprising for a band from Dublin who attach themselves to heroes such as Shane McGowan. The band head out on tour with London’s, Shame this month before finishing off the year with headline dates in the capital as well as Manchester, Brighton and Cardiff. Listen to ‘Too Real’ below.
