Whilst the likes of Bodega are hopping across the pond with their intelligent insight of society through well thought out playful guitar songs, Leeds quartet Mush are raising the game and producing slacker art rock that has seen the band produce guitar riffs that captivate and groove garnering them some well earned attention. Having played with some of the best bands around at the moment including Drahla, OMNI and Ought, the 4 piece are gearing up for their headline UK tour in September by releasing their brand new track ‘Dopemine Loops’ via Dipped In Gold Records.
The bands latest track starts off with a groove laden guitar hook that is captivating from the off
before Daniel Hyndman’s distinctive voice kicks in and brings the lyrical prowess we’ve seen
before; from the financial difficulty of the 21st Century in ‘Gig Economy’ to the Fake News
surrounding Trump within ‘Alt-Facts’, ‘Dopemine Loops’ is no different. The lyrics portray the difficulty of speaking out with Hyndman singing “Like I’ve got something to prove; I bury all of my truth” over a bouncy guitar line before progressing into an enthralling hook that would have any band in the world swooning.
Mush are producing some of the most exciting guitar music in the country at the moment as well as
touching on the social aspects of everyday life, the Leeds quartet are a band to be reckoned with and it’s exciting to hear.
