A duo who go to Guildhall, studying electronic music and opera respectively, but who also started writing music together in their bedrooms during the catharsis of sleepovers, London newcomers Lifeloose are as unashamedly silly as they are resolutely artsy and strange.
Reaching a curious, eclectic meeting point between the electroclash juvenelia of cult early 2000s teen Group X Cetera, the smuttiness of Peaches, and the oddball sensibilities of Mermaid Chunky, part debut-single and part-manifesto ‘Lifeloose’ is the outcome of what it might truly mean to say ‘fuck it’, to lay down a grimy bassline and write an opening lyric as daft and daring as “you are not a virgin if you listen to my music.” And as each narrrsty layer is slopped onto another, the single strong arms you deeper and deeper into a stranger, more hypnotic, more boggling disorientation. Think of Alice in Wonderland, caught between childhood fantasy and the creeping insanities of adulthood, but with a millennium makeover, MySpace login details and a CD Walkman at her hip.
Playing seemingly everywhere all the time, across the capital so far in 2026 (the past few months have seen them chalk up shows with RIP Magic, PVA and Bathing Suits no less), Lifeloose play the next edition of We Are So Young at The Social on 31st March, with Kiosk and Lttl Mort. RSVP here.
