Listen: London’s Folly Group Share ‘Pressure Pad’ and Announce US Tour Dates

London’s Folly Group slips a 50p coin into the machine, loading up the flickering lights and immersive levels of ‘Pressure Pad’. A deceptive 2D realm filled with secret rooms, winding tunnels, and hidden treasures marks the fourpiece’s final single from their debut album, ‘Down There!’.

Amidst the nostalgic, wonky post-punk hum and dancing rhythms, ‘Pressure Pad’ sets its narrative falling into the traps woven by another. As this addicting landscape progresses, a sense of self imminently evolves with it, falling for this new world that’s opened up.

The monotone vocals of Sean Harper collide perfectly with the scattering bleeps and bloops of Kai Akinde-Hummel’s 8-bit synths. Louis Milburn’s pixelating guitar and the funky rhythmic undertow of Tom Doherty’s bass create one of the most groove-laden tracks on the record. Chords are torn asunder, while charming and quirky verses quickly spark into the suffocating waves of dark analogue gloom. A chanting mechanical disorder takes over Folly Group, and it’s game over.

Vocalist and drummer Harper notes that “‘Pressure Pad’ is a testament to how far we’ve come as collaborators. Every different kind of remote or in-the-room collaboration we’ve ever found fruitful was involved in creating this Frankenstein’s Monster of a single. It’s about totally going with the flow of a relationship, becoming someone you never otherwise would have been, not over-analysing that, but rather being grateful for it.”

Folly Group, it seems, shatters every high score put in front of them. With their debut album just days away and a new run of US tour dates, ‘Pressure Pad’ leaves an itching desire to insert another coin just for one more run.
