Returning from a six year break, Jerkcurb has released a new, bittersweet single ‘Larchmont’.
Tackling themes of grief, anxiety and familiarity in his new music, the track sounds delicate and melancholy. String instrumentals are intricately comforting as vocals beautifully harmonise to tell the story of an uncertain relationship.
Jerkcurb is Jacob Read, with ‘Larchmont’ being his first release since his debut album in 2019. Sharing about the new single, Read says “I wrote Larchmont during sleepless nights over the blur of the Covid 19 pandemic. I was unsettled, a new sense of dread in the silence and disorientating abundance of time. […] The lyrics describe a dialogue between a couple, caught up in a cycle of fear and bliss. Larchmont, the place where I spent my childhood vacations, could represent a future sanctuary or just an escape to a memory of summer.”
‘Larchmont’s deeper themes enrich the gentle sound, adding layers of longing, comfort and a bittersweet sadness. With the announcement of Read’s new music comes a headline show at EartH Theatre, London at the start of the new year.
