Since forming last year, eclectic duo Lover1k have been gigging around London in anticipation of releasing music to their already cult following – now signed to Underplay Recordings, they have released pulsing single ‘On My Own’.
The duo consists of Alice Roberts and Lev Ceylan, who work together to create intense, climatic dance tracks like ‘On My Own’ that contain reflective undertones beneath the initial electrifying instrumental. Their varying backgrounds as songwriters, producers and instrumentalists attests to the unique style of Lover1k, a much needed project that couldn’t be replicated by anyone else.
Alice shared some background on the single, saying “‘On My Own’ is about how isolating it can feel to constantly be on the defensive as a woman. We grow up watching movies that make us feel like we’re going to meet someone who will think we’re the best person in the world (and treat us as such), but the harsh reality is we spend the majority of our young adult lives getting played. It’s become so normal for guys to love bomb the shit out of us only to realise that’s just part of their routine. This song is about being sick of it and knowing better.”
