RIP Magic’s new single leads their genre-blending electro-punk experimentations into new corners of introspection, cast in the hot, piercing glow of the stage lights.
Fresh off the back of a huge-as-fuck European arena tour supporting this really great band you might not have heard of yet, Tame Impala, RIP Magic continue their ascent towards peak coolness with brand new single ‘Light Over There’. Invest this summer and make big returns when your trendy mate asks you for new music recommendations in 3-6 months time.
Released via section1, the LA sister label to Partisan Records, ‘Light Over There’ is texturally more abstract than RIP Magic’s offerings to date, its whole formed by looser compositional elements and vague silhouettes rather than bold, punchy hooks. The result is a track that captures the dense, sticky overstimulation of the crowd while maintaining an intense emotional distance – senses numbed by deep rumination, legs swaying, eyes glassy and mind far, far away.
