Listen: London’s Tooth Share Live Favourite ‘Medicine’

Providing a darker taste of the band’s sonics, Tooth’s second single flows with the kind of grunge that makes you want to get a side part, all the while possessing the sharp catchiness of any good pop song.

Last month’s ‘Age of Innocence’ was a true statement of the musical abilities, impassioned vocals and clever songwriting of the London quartet, but on ‘Medicine’, Tooth find themselves delving into the mellow and almost gothic parts of their soundscape. While Lead singer Tom Pollock’s vocal delivery doesn’t soar high as in the previous offering, he finds confidence in a lower pitched, richer chorus which beams with the confidence of a bonafide front man. The guitar work on ‘Medicine’ is also the bands strongest yet, with the intertwining melodies sprawling themselves around the track all the while being grounded by another impressively technical drum line.

On the track, Pollock says, “We wanted to take the chaos of Sonic Youth but dilute it with a bit more structure and melody, and make it catchier. Lyrically, it revealed itself as a love song about an incessant lust for someone. This ‘someone’ was pretty vague in my mind, but it has a rawness of emotion I was fond of.”
