Listen: London’s Velvetine Return With New Single ‘Everyday Masquerade’

Every New Year begins with an anxious dread for many, but Velvetine remind us that igniting those feared thoughts can drive you into a bigger and better 2024.

The five-piece who describe their sound as “gloomy and atmospheric”, sounding like everyone’s perfect comedown from a hefty December, waste no time in inviting you on their journey this year. ‘Everyday Masquerade’, a gladly relatable track, scores a hat trick for these Southerners as it follows the release of two previous singles in 2023, ‘Curtainsong‘ and ‘Hideaway‘.

Inspired by the importance of not letting the world swallow you whole, the alt-band hope to promote positive affirmations by praising individuality and the idea of being unashamedly self-rewarding.

If after that week off, or if you’re lucky, two, this song may be your hint that you’re not alone. Velvetine teach us that it’s okay not to want to get up in the morning and to be bored of your monotonous, menial jobs. It’s just simply something we all go through. With lyrics like, “The need of creation, inspiration. The stress of wasting time, running out,” the track encapsulates the worry of life running away so that you don’t have to.
