What in godforsaken cybernetic hell did SILVERWINGKILLER crawl out of? After a year or so of bludgeoning brain cells across the UK with their maniacal live show, Manchester based electro- punk chaos-mongers SILVERWINGKILLER debut with double release ‘HOLD UP (ALL FIREARMS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM)’ and ‘S.W.K’.
Unleashing a searing brand of acid-techno rave-rock, SILVERWINGKILLER’s music sounds like it’s been hydraulically pressed into highly erratic and condensed ‘pieces’ that feel less ‘music’, but more like expressionist collages. Any given 30 second sample of a song might resemble hurled paint buckets, repurposed scrap metals and a mish-mash of symbols scrambled together onto a raging canvas.
Rallying against everything subtle and restrained, clattering 90s breaks and Prodigy-esque synth ‘fuck you’ prevail in the thrilling ‘HOLD UP (ALL FIREARMS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM)’, while the eponymous(ish) ‘S.W.K.’ captures it’s ideas in fleeting euphoric bursts, a recovered fragment from a night where momentary pleasures took the place of memory, perhaps.
