Manchester based quintet Soup! pigeon strut around their masterpiece on new single ‘Only Time’.
The single’s immediacy stems from the fact that ‘Only Time’ was recorded live in two takes. Proving that Soup! is best served hot, and without an overdub to soak up all that youthful liveness. Whilst the two for a penny Sprechgesang balances on angularities and a tambourine, the odd line (such as: ‘please believe that these legs don’t trust these feet’) materialises in the forefront of the stage; attracting more attention than the talk of community halls and the rhetorical question, featured in the breakdown.
With a wobbly synth and guitars so syncopated they channel Nile Rodgers rushing to get off shift, Soup! flaunt their aptitude at releasing catchy singles.
