NYC duo Fcukers are out here delivering accessible, gnarly and irresistible ways to get off your nut. Taking no time at all to break out from their East Coast parties and blast into Europe, packing out festival tents galore, their fiendish alchemy is easy on the ear yet exquisitely refined.
Armed with lyrical earworms that don’t need to make sense for them to become immediately etched into your heart, and with beats smooth like ice but driven to ecstasy – plus a seemingly scholastic grasp on history of pop-orientated dance-music – Fcukers are saying, “we can do it different, fresher, better”.
A kind of jack of all trades when it comes to genre – last year’s ‘Baggy$$’ textured house, liquid ,Dub and 00’s Pop under in their pop-art colours – Kenny Beats-produced new single ‘Play Me’ this time drops the needle on a smash and grab drum ‘n’ bass’ skirmish. Complete with robot vocals and wired DJ scratches, like all of their material to date it’s catchy as hell, and fun as fcuk. And true to their affable DIY spirit, there’s a music video shot by vocalist Shanny in what looks like a hotel hallway. Coming across like teenagers miming stardom in front of an MSN webcam, it appeals to the dreamer in all of us.
