Listen: Paris Newbies SCHØØL Share Debut Single ‘N.S.M.L.Y.D’

Forming last Autumn, Parisian shoegazers, SCHØØL,  announce themselves with their first single via Geographie.

The track begins with a Nokia-Ringtone-inspired synth line that immediately loops into your head leaving drummer Alex Battez to knock the track into life with a grounding drum part. The guitar tones courtesy of Jack Moase are filled with reverb and gauze emulating the sounds of My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive and Drop Nineteens. Lead singer Francis Mallari produces a raw and honest vocal performance with lyrics full of honesty, desperation and longing, as the title suggests, “Nothing satisfies me like you do”.

I wasn’t alive in the nineties, but in my head, everything sounded like this. SCHØØL possess a heck of a lot of character creating a nostalgic but fresh sound; with an album coming sometime in the near future, SCHØØL is definitely a name to keep on your radar.
