‘Anna’ is an unashamed banger, as suited for Friday night pre-drinks as it is early Sunday morning euphoria. It revels in the euphoria of simple pop, using its infectiousness to explore personal, human feeling – influenced by a break-up and the existential unknowing heartbreak leaves you.
Jessica Winter and Alex Sebley sound forlorn and effortless as they perform, the rush of melody almost swirling around them as they delve into their elusive narrative, it retains a sense of mystique about the pair.
Through something as direct and undeniably compelling as their sound, it allows Pregoblin to verge into something more substantial and emotionally engaging than the simple liberation of a good pop song.
