PVA have been keeping us on tenterhooks, building more and more anticipation for the moment they finally release a piece of recorded music with live shows that have grown bigger, more intense and even more ecstatic than before. Ella Harris, Josh Baxter and Louis Satchell have now found that moment.
Debut single ‘Divine Intervention’ – released through the magicians over at Speedy Wunderground – is an addictive pill – brisk, surprisingly subtle and devilishly nonchalant. Harris and Baxter breathlessly mutter over pulsing Detroit synth and knee jerk beats – atmospheric yet anxious, unsure of it’s next move but loving every second of it.
Exploring a deep sense of unknowing and the overwhelming influence your past can have on you to find your identity – Harris laconic lyricism leads you into your own dream-like state – whether to find transparency or escape the oppressing reality. That overwhelming haze is finally broken with the duo once more commanding “divine – intervention” encapsulating the liberating feeling of clarity and understanding that such physical and dynamic music can give you on both a tangible and emotional level.
Produced by Dan Carey, PVA’s ‘Divine Intervention’ is out right in time for Christmas through Speedy Wunderground. PVA for Xmas No.1.
