Listen: Sorry Share New Single ‘Echoes’ and Announce New Album ‘Cosplay’

It’s a rare breed of band that can ascend from the toilet circuit to stadiums while maintaining artistic integrity and consistency. In the last few years, London’s Sorry have been deft and industrious in proving their ability to stand alongside the heavyweights of British and Irish indie, with their support for Fontaines D.C. on their latest UK & Ireland tour displaying their burgeoning but deserved starpower. With the release of their latest single ‘Echoes’ and the announcement of upcoming LP ‘Cosplay’, Sorry are poised to ascend to similar heights, with this move in many ways feeling inevitable.

Following on from the lumbering muscle of recent single ‘Jive’, Sorry return with tenderness and sincerity on ‘Echoes’ detailing the undulations of a complex and potentially crumbling relationship. Intimate yet wrought, Asha Lorenz’s vocals are close but distorted, solemnly dancing above sparkling guitar arpeggios and warbling electronics. As drums and bass lock in to a throbbing motorik drive, the track’s chorus melody of ‘echo, I love you,’ is repeated endlessly with desperation and longing.

With ‘Echoes’ Sorry have written a singalong anthem not unlike the output of recent tour-mates, Fontaines D.C.. It seems only a matter of time before they match their grandeur. A solemn earworm, Sorry have struck gold.
