London’s Sports Team have been the surprise rise of 2018. Progressing from small venue whispers to selling out Scala off the back of their debut EP, ‘Winter Nets’.
Alex Rice & co have added a level of fun to guitar music that we’ve not seen for a while, combining tongue in cheek lyricism, catchy chorus’ and moderate social media wit. They even have an open Whatsapp group where the ever growing ‘Sports Team Community’ can discuss all things Sports Team and generally give guitarist, Henry Young a bit of stick. It feels a wholesome place, taking on the success of Idles’ AF Gang Facebook group but with a slightly younger demographic. The point is, the band are connecting, they’re growing and following a full UK run with Hinds, Sports Team have announced their debut headline tour, including a date at London’s, Electric Ballroom.
