thistle. have released their latest single, ‘tied’, the first since their debut EP came out this July. Wasting no time at all, the track instantly throws you into the action, only lasting for 90 seconds before it’s over and time for you to press play again.
‘tied’ comes after signing to independent label REX RECS, with the band sharing that the new single is “a tribute to the emotional hardcore bands that we grew up on. The lyrics explore the relentless grind of 9-5 work. It flips between optimism and a feeling of defeat… something we’re always looking for in our music”.
thistle.’s EP, ‘it’s nice to see you, stranger’, was a succinct showcase of the band’s grunge and shoegaze talents – ‘tied’ expands on this, exploring the feelings of burnout, hope and keeping faith in your future. Kept within its runtime of one minute and a half, guitars and drums thrash over melancholy vocals to tell this story.
