‘Dobro’ is the final offering before the release of Westside Cowboy’s long awaited debut album, ‘It Goes On’, at the end of the month – a succinct, hazy track encapsulating the band’s natural talent and inherent optimism.
Sung with an essence of nonchalance, the lyrics juxtapose the calm cadence of guitarist Jimmy Bradbury as he pleads for a return home – for himself, a friend, or a partner, is up to you. A mixture of guitar riffs quickly jangle between verses, with ‘Dobro’ clearly taking fuzzy, lo-fi influences which make the single feel familiar and lived-in.
Sincerity has always been a key token for Westside Cowboy, with this track perfectly epitomising their signature blend of earnestness and classic rock influence. On ‘Dobro’, the band shared a short background of the track; “this is our strut song, over 2 minutes in length but just under 3. A song for perhaps a younger self? For that moment of waiting and isolation in the hopes of a return. Or it could just be a song about a weird guitar. Who knows!”
