As we all known, January isn’t always the easiest month – the giddy hedonism of christmas and New Year is over, and we’re all back to the hard reality of life. Whether you’re struggling to readjust to the nine to five, or trying to finish that over-due holiday essay, Whenyoung’s euphoric sugar pop is just the thing to combat those ever-present winter blues.
Today they release dream-pop banger ‘Never Let Go’, which demonstrates once again the trio’s knack for mixing catchy earnestness with gorgeous guitar work. The track opens with Aoife Power’s sweet sing-song floating above dainty electric guitar, before bursting into a full blown indie-pop attack that will lift even the lowest of souls. Its heartfelt lyrics only add to the track’s heartwarming hopefulness with Power’s words encouraging listeners to speak up about mental health issues, reminding us that one is ever truly alone.
If you, like so many others, have fallen in love with the trio’s heady landscape of bubble-gum pop and epic choruses, make sure to catch them during their UK tour this February, including the band’s biggest headline show to date at Electrowerkz in Angel. You’ll regret it if you don’t.
