Listen: Wigan’s TTSSFU Shares ‘Call U Back’ and Announces New EP ‘Blown’ via Partisan Records

Wigan’s TTSSFU shares ‘Call U Back’ and announces new EP ‘Blown’ via Partisan Records.

The story (so far) of TTSSFU, aka Tasmin Stephens, is an inspiring one. Winning much deserved attention off the back of a string of entirely home-recorded releases, in little over a year she has found herself among the ranks of independent mainstays Partisan Records, opening for Kim Deal and hanging backstage with Dave Grohl.

Returning, at last, with her first new material in 18 months,’Call U Back’ lifts TTSSFU up to the next level. Retaining that absorbing, intangible ghostliness that charmed her earlier work, but now with reinforcement of some heavy ‘hi fi’ muscle, the 3 minute burst is a steaming, driving charge towards an urgent but unreachable goal; like the object of a dream, constantly pursued, never identified, but branded indelibly in the memory for the rest of time. Enchanting the spectral horrors of The Cure spiked with the Indie-Rock snarl of Bros-era Wolf Alice, it’s at once a dagger to the heart and a reassuring rub of the shoulder.
